Gardeners in the Willamette Valley are lamenting the first day of autumn, even though we love the cooler days and first bright colors of the fall leaves. Summer didn’t really start until around July 20, so we pretty much got about a month and a half to grow anything. It was a terrific year for peas and lettuce, the cool weather lovers! But all the hot season stuff, including flowers, were slow to grow this year. The tomatoes are finally coming in, and as long as it doesn’t start pouring rain anytime real soon, we should have a good crop, just a late one. But sheesh, where did summer go? I have the heater on and it’s not even October yet.
Anyway, here are two of my books if you’re a parent, grandparent, teacher, librarian, or just someone who likes books about the fall! These were released in 2010 but easy to find or order. Happy Fall Equinox!
